What the FCC’s 5G spectrum plan means for Ka-band satellite

Last week the FCC voted unanimously to open up nearly 11 GHz of high-frequency spectrum – 3.85 GHz of licensed spectrum and 7 GHz of unlicensed spectrum – for “flexible, mobile, and fixed use wireless broadband”, which basically means 5G. [Read more →]

Netrality Acquires Its Way Into the Heart of St. Louis

Zayo Selected for Longhaul Dark Fiber

On Friday, Zayo revealed a new customer win for longhaul dark fiber.  An unnamed ‘major U.S. carrier’ has tapped them for a 20 year fiber IRU worth $50M spanning some 3,200 route miles through nine markets and eight states.   [Read more →]

AT&T Adds FTTB Depth, Offers a Few Datapoints

Rumors of a Comcast Purchase of Level 3 Bubble to the Surface

Yesterday, Level 3 stock surged a few dollars on the backs of a bit of good old fashioned rumor and speculation.  Benzinga reported to its users that Level 3 is considering strategic options that range from a stock buyback to a sale of the company.  Follow-on reports quickly brought in the suggestion of an eventual buyout by Comcast, which Cowen’s Colby Syneseal speculated about at the end of last year. Virtual Reality and the Next Big Shift: Tried Pokemon Go Yet?

Mitel’s Polycom Deal Preempted
