Network news from the US, Mexico, and the Middle East to catch up with:

Lumen says it will be providing connectivity for the Kentucky Derby next Saturday. They are bringing their Network-as-a-Service capabilities to Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky. The hoopla surrounding the race will see some 385K people in the area, boosting bandwidth demands from 2-3Gbps to 200Gbps across all sorts of data uses for just a few days. Such events are what have already venues a great case for network services that can quickly scale up and down.

Arelion and Gold Data are teaming up again to help out with Arelion’s further expansion in Mexico. Arelion will be tapping Gold Data for a dark fiber link between Tultitlán and Querétaro, specifically connecting the MEX5 and QR01 facilities of KIO Networks. Arelion has been investing in new infrastructure into and within Mexican markets for several years now, having added a route from Monterrey to Querétaro. They now have 9 PoPs in the country.

GNX has added a local presence in the United Arab Emirates. The Dutch-based global network operator is setting up a new office in Dubai. From there they will look to serve customers across the Middle East region. GNX leverages partnerships to hit 190+ countries, but having local boots on the ground enables them to chase opportunities in the region more directly.

And Nokia has won a key contract with T-Mobile US. They will be supplying 5G RAN technology to help expand T-Mobile’s network coverage and capacity. The deal covers Nokia’s AirScale RAN portfolio as well as its AI-powered MantaRay SON and AutoPilot solution and related services. The deal expands on a longstanding relationship of course.
