Two items in the subsea world, plus one in data center management:
Google has announced some new subsea cable plans in the Indo-Pacific region. The Australia Connect initiative includes two new cables: The Bosun cable wil connect Darwin, Australia with Christmas Island, and the Interlink cable will connect Melbourne and Perth also to Christmas Island. From there connectivity is available to Singapore. Google is also working with Vocus on terrestrial connectivity from Darwin to the Sunshine Coast.
Kao Data has tapped CBRE to help with its European expansion. CBRE will be managing Kao Data’s data center facilities, which currently includes three in the London metro area. But Kao Data also recently broke ground on a new $350M AI-focused data center in Stockport near Manchester that will be operational in 2026 that will ad 25,900 square meters to their portfolio.
And Cinia says its C-Lion1 submarine cable has been fully restored. The cable break happened on Monday 11/18 off of Sweden, east of Öland for reasons still under investigation. C-Lion1 connects Finland with Germany across the Baltic sea. Alternative routes handled the disruption, but the break caused eyebrows to raise around the world. Cinia has also been involved in the development of a cable that wold connect Europe with Asia via the Arctic.
