Two expansion projects in the far east, some power in southern Europe, and a railway SAN upgrade:
HGC has tapped Ciena to expand its presence in the Philippines. With the help of CommVerge Solutions, they will be deploying Ciena’s packet-optical and routing technology in support of a datacenter interconnect service. The DCI capabilities will support HGC’s ambitions to take a larger share of the digital transformation underway in the Philippines.
Hurricane Electric has continued its expansion in East Asia with another PoP in Korea. They have deployed a presence in Seoul at Digital Edge SEL1, a Tier 3 facility in the Gangnam district about 55km from Incheon International Airport. It is HE’s third PoP in Seoul, adding further depth in a growing marketplace.
Equinix has lined up some renewable power in Italy. They have signed a 10-year virtual power purchase agreement with Neoen, their fifth such PPA in Europe now. The deal covers some 7 solar projects across northern Italy to the tune of some 53MW. Equinix has four IBXC facilities in Milan and one in Genoa.
And Adtran has won some business in the European railway sector. The Belgian rail infrastructure company Infrabel will be using Adtran’s technology to deploy a 64G Fibre Channel over WDM solution. Arcadiz handled the engineering and installation and will continue on with the maintenance. Infrabel is looking to enhance its SAN connectivity in response to the growing data requirements from modern rail operations.
