Friday Roundup: Connectbase, Ziply, RETN, ODATA

One bit of M&A and three organic expansion moves from around the industry to finish off the week:

Connectbase has made a significant inorganic move. The data ecoystem provider has announced the acquisition of Network Capacity Solutions, which specializes in network inventory management. Conectbase will integrate those capabilities to provide comprehensive end-to-end branded connectivity marketplaces. They hope to enable data center operators to better monetize their assets.

Ziply Fiber says it is taking on the northern tier. They have opened a 400G “Northern Link Route” connecting Portland/Hillsboro and Seattle with Chicago via Spokane, Missoula, Billings, and Minneapolis. The new route will leverage Ciena’s optical technology, with the western leg already in place and the eastern leg expected to be turned up by the end of the year.

RETN has added another PoP in eastern Europe. They have extended their network to DC North in the Croatian city of Varaždin. The Croatian provider CRATIS is helping out with two diverse paths between the PoP and RETN’s existing node in Zagreb. CRATIS’ DC North facility opened last November with 2,000 square meters of space.

And ODATA has unveiled a massive expansion in Colombia. They are building two data centers in the  Bogotá metro area. DC BG02 will feature 24MW of capacity and be located in the Zona Franca de Occidente in Mosque, while DC BG03 will feature 120MW and be in the Zona Franca Metropolitana in Tenjo. ODATA will be investing $1.3B in the region, with the two facilities ready for use by the end of 2026.
