Thursday Bytes: Verizon Business, Wyyerd, Adtran, Fastr, Nokia, iSAT

Four bits of expansion news, two domestic and two international:

Verizon Business has won an expanded relationship with Monumental Sports & Entertainment. They will be helping MSE manage events and improve cyber resiliency at the Capital One Arena, home of the Washington Wizards, Washington Mystics, and the Capital City Go-Go.

Wyyerd is officially expanding its footprint in southern California, specifically in the San Diego metro area. They are holding a ribbon cutting event in Imperial Beach at the Veterans Park. Imperial Beach, which stretches along the shore from Tijuana up to San Diego Bay, will thus have a new FTTH option to choose from as Wyyerd continues its rollout in California and Arizona.

Over in the UK, Fastr has tapped Adtran for the technology to help with its rollout. They are deploying Adtran’s Combo PON, WiFi, and Mosaic Cloud platform technologies in the city of York in northern England. The deal will support Fastr’s effots to deliver big bandwidth to addresses across the city, whose long history makes for complex deployment challenges.

And in western Africa, Nokia will be helping out in rural Liberia. They have announced a strategic partnership with iSAT Africa to help bridge the digita divide. The three year deal will cover about 200 sites across the country, leveraging Nokia’s AirScale radio portfolio and its MantaRay Network Management System.
