Monday Roundup: GlobalNet, Adtran, Tribal Ready, Ciena, VITRO

Four bits of news, both domestic and overseas, to catch up with:

GlobalNet has extended its network again, this time to the east. They have established a PoP in Vienna, giving them a presence in Austria for the first time and opening a potential route to southeastern Europe. The new PoP will be within Digital Realty VE2, and is connected back to Frankfurt via Stuttgart and Munich. The move follows quickly upon a recent expansion to Zurich, as well as other expansions this year to Marseille and Warsaw.

Tribal Ready has lined up a key new relationship in its drive for connectivity to Native American communities. They are partnering with the Arizona State Broadband Office, and will be working with the state’s 22 tribes about possibly applying for BEAD funding. Tribal Ready has been quite actively putting itself in a position to help bring fiber to some of the least connected parts of the US.

In the southeastern US, Adtran has picked up some FTTx business with an electric utility. Tishomingo Connect will be using Adtran’s Mosaic One SaaS solution alongside other Adtran gear to hook up communities within its footprint in Mississippi. Tishomingo Connect is a subsidiary of Tishomingo County Electric Power Association, serving the county of the same name in the far northeastern corner of the state.

And Ciena has picked up some DCI business over in the Philippines. VITRO will be using Ciena’s Waveserver Ai and 6500 coherent optical technology to hook up VITRO Sta Rosa, connecting it directly to other VITRO locations in Makati, Paranaque, and Pasig. VITRO Sta Rosa is a 50MW hyperscale facility in Santa Rosa within the province of Laguna, just ot he south of Manila.
