Multiple upgrades and expansions on multiple continents to catch up with this week:

Nokia and Global Fiber Peru have been busy extending fiber into the Amazon rainforest. It’s a subaquatic network under the waters of the Amazon that interconnects 500K users across 400 communities in what is known as the three-border region. Iquitos and Santa Rosa de Yaraví (Peru), Leticia (Colombia) and Tabatinga (Brazil) are among those newly connected destinations. The local partner FYCO also helped make the deployment happen.

RETN has invested in additional network infrastructure in Poland. They have added 150km of new fiber between Biala Podlaska and Ludlin, interconnected their northern and southern routes near the border with Germany, and added metro depth in Warsaw. The upgrades improve RETN’s regional latency, diversity, and reach.

Epsilon has partnered with Neterra to expand its reach across major destinations in central and eastern Europe and even a bit in South America. The deal adds Istanbul, Kyiv, Prague, Rome, Sofia, Vienna, Warsaw, Zagreb, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo to Epsilon’s network footprint. That will enable Epsilon to offer its NaaS platform Infiny to enterprises and businesses within each of those markets.

Sparkle has picked up an IP transit customer from across the Mediterranean. Tunisie Telecom will be using Sparkle’s backbone between Sicily and Milan, including dedicated capacity on Sparkle’s new subsea connection between the two cities. As a result, Tunisie Telecom will benefit from upgraded connectivity to and within European markets. The deal is an expansion of a long term partnership between the two companies.

And Equinix says it has officially opened two new facilities in Malaysia this week. JH1 in Johor and KL1 in Kuala Lumpur will enable the global data center giant to serve customers with data center needs in Malaysia’s growing IT marketplace. Initially JH1 offers 1,800 square meters of space while KL1 checks in with 2,630 square meters, and both are covered by 100% renewable power.
