Tuesday Roundup: Involta, Accelecom, Huawei, Orange Business

I hope the holidays are treating everyone well!  In the meantime, here’s a bit of news I’m still catching up on from late last week.  One data center expansion project, one regional healthcare win, a nextgen optical trial, and an inorganic move of note:

Involta has some expansion plans in northern Wisconsin. The data center provider has bought a 24.5-acre site with an existing data center near Green Bay. Plans call for an expansion of the site into a 20MW campus that Involta will use to target the enterprise marketplace. It will be Involta’s 13th location, boosting their plans out at the regional edge.

Accelecom picked up a bit of business in the healthcare vertical last week. St. Claire Healthcare will be using their network and internet solutions to boost connectivity in eastern Kentucky. Specifically mentioned were rural locations in Morehead, Frenchburg, and Sandy Hook. Accelecom operates a statewide footprint in Kentucky, a state frequently bypassed by national network footprints.

Forget all that mere 800G stuff, etisalat by e& and Huawei recently completed a trial of 1.6Tbps on a single wavelength. The UAE provider is looking to move toward a 100T network platform and deliver 10G to homes and enterprises. Not a lot of details on the trial were provided, but it leveraged Huawei’s next generation OSN 9800 Kepler platform and purports to also cut power consumption per gigabit by 65% over current industry platforms.

And Orange Business made an inorganic move late last week. They have acquired the consulting company Expertime to help fill out their expertise when it comes to Microsoft technology solutions. Expertime’s 165 employees, mostly in France, will join Orange Business and support the company’s growth on the digital, public cloud, AI, and data fronts.
