A new subsea route added, and two significant data center expansion projects:
RETN is adding some diversity to its international backbone in the South China Sea. They have lined up capacity on the Asia Pacific Gateway subsea cable on the key route between Hong Kong and Singapore. Capacity on APG complements their existing links on AAG and SJC, giving them triple redundancy as well as cutting latency further.
STACK Infrastructure is planning to extend its footprint in northern Virginia. Specifically they will be expanding their facility in Prince William County, having acquired an adjacent property from the nonprofit Youth For Tomorrow. STACK has 1GW built or under development in northern VA, with an eventual potential footprint of double that.
Digital Realty and Blackstone have set up a new joint venture. The new JV will develop four new hyperscale data center campuses in Northern VA, Paris, and Fankfurt. In all they plan to invest $7B in what will eventually be some 10 data centers and 500MW of power over the next several years. Initially, though, they are looking at 46MW of that which is 1/3 pre-leased. The JV deal will close during 2024.
