Two expansion projects, some new interconnection, and a smart city partnership:
Bulk Data Centers is expanding its footprint in Kristiansand, Norway. As they opened their 2nd data center at the N01 campus, whose 12MW of capacity is already nearly fully contracted, they have now begun construction of their third data center. When complete the new location will offer 20MW of IT space and include air cooling of 100kW+ per rack as well as more via direct liquid cooling.
Virtus Data Centres has revealed some big plans for the Berlin/Brandenburg region of Germany. They plan to invest as much as €3B into a new data center campus in Wustermark, 12km outside of Berlin itself. At full buildout, they envision two state-of-the-art facilities adding up to some 300MW of incoming power, with an emphasis on renewable energy from onshore wind farms. The first phase would be ready sometime in 2026.
EXA Infrastructure has been busy in southern Europe, way down on the heel of Italy’s boot. They have connected to Namex Bari in the Puglia region, from which they will be able to offer connectivity on their Trans Adriatic Express route from Italy east to Albania, Greece, and Turkey. Namex operates IX infrastructure in Rome, Bari, Napoli, and Albania.
And Orange Business has signed a deal with King Abdullah Financial District Development & Management Company (KAFD DMC). They will be designing and building a smart city platform for KAFD, integrating AI and data analytics. KAFD will be the flagship business district of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, with plans for an 80-floor skyscraper among other things.
