Tuesday Bytes: Farice, DC BLOX, OFS, Epsilon, Ribbon

Some subsea, some backhaul, a few new PoPs, and a bit of UC:

Farice says that the IRIS subsea cable is nearing completion. SubCom has completed its work on the project, which connects Iceland with the west coast of Ireland where it comes ashore at Galway. The system will apparently be ready for service in Q1 of 2023, enabling connectivity between Reykjavík and Dublin with 10.5ms latency.

DC BLOX continues to move quickly to build out its cable landing station down in Myrtle Beach. They have tapped OFS to supply the necessary fiberoptic cable for the location’s new route west through Charleston and Augusta and on to Atlanta. The CLS is expected to be ready in Q2 of 2023.

Epsilon Telecommunications is significantly expanding its presence within South Korea. They have deployed three new PoPs in Seoul, specifically at MokDong IDC 2, KINX Gasan IDC and KT Hyehwa, bringing their Infiny platform to customers in the Korean marketplace. Epsilon was acquired by KT last year, and thus a greater presence alongside KT’s home infrastructure certainly is logical enough.

And Ribbon Communications has picked up a customer for its Ribbon Connect service. CTBS will be using their -aaS technology to deploy Operator Connect Accelerator for Microsoft Teams. CBTS is targeting enterprises who wish to hook up Teams directly with telephony services, more fully transitioning from a legacy environment.
