Tuesday Bytes: Datalec, EXFO, DataBank

November 1st, 2022 by · Leave a Comment

A bit of M&A, some federal funding, and a product launch:

Datalec Precision Installations has announced the acquisition of Technivo. Technivo specializes in technical cleaning services in the UK and Europe, which will complement Datalec’s broader data center design, supply, build, and support capabilities. We had Datalec CEO Stephen Scott here for a Q&A earlier this year.

EXFO has picked up $15.9M in Canadian federal funding. The testing, monitoring, and analytics vendor will be using those funds to build a “5G Center of Excellence” in Montreal. The center will focus on supporting 5G networks through advanced data anlytics leveraging cloud computing, AI, and ML technologies. The project will create 50 high-skilled job opportunities.

DataBank is stretching up the infrastructure stack with a newly announced bare metal service. The data center operator has launched DataBank METAL, offering automated orchestration of server deployments at the edge across the company’s 40+ data centers in the US. That’s an interesting way to take further advantage of the footprint DataBank acquired in the zColo deal two years ago.
