Some metro and FTTH news as well as a new data center in the Far East:
Stealth Communications is upgrading its core network with some help from Nokia. The NYC-based service provider is leveraging Nokia’s IP routing solutions to power its metro core network in and around the city, specifically its 7750 Service routers. The upgrade will enable Stealth to offer 100GE and 400GE services to multi-tenant buildings.
STACK Infrastructure is partnering with ESR Group Limited for a new data center near Seoul, South Korea. The plans call for a 48MW facility in Incheon, for which construction will begin early next year. It will be STACK’s fifth new APAC market in 12 months, with the other recent expansions being two in Japan and three in Australia.
Ziply Fiber now has more resources available to power its expansion plans out in the Pacific Northwest. They have raised $450M in new funding, which will go toward further upgrades of the company’s network footprint. Meanwhile they also promoted two executives, naming Chris Denzin as COO and Rob Griffith to Chief, Fiber Design and Construction. The company upgraded copper infrastructure in some 80 markets over its first two years of operation, but there’s more to do.
And Dobson Fiber’s FTTH buildout has another market on its short term to-do list. They have announced plans to expand their offering into Chickasha OK, a city of 16K people to the southwest of Oklahoma City. Dobson has lit up services in 9 cities in Oklahoma so far as well as three in Arkansas. They have plans for 12 more markets already in the works as well.
