A bit of M&A, a massive data center project, and some subsea news in the far north:
11:11 Systems has made another inorganic move as it continues to build its managed infrastructure portfolio. They have announced the acquisition of Static1, which offers a ranged of network, infrastructure, SD-WAN, and security services to the enterprise market. Static1’s talent and portfolio will be merged with 11:11’s other recent purchases of assets from Unitas Global, Cleareon, iland, and Green Cloud Defense.
Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners has some big data center plans for Brisbane on the eastern coast of Australia. They have launched a $2.5B data storage supernode project on 30 hectares adjacent to the South Pine substation at Brendale. Plans call for 800MW of capacity powered by renewables and some major battery storage, leveraging cheap energy prices in the province of Queensland.
And Far North Digital’s plans for a subsea cable through the Arctic gained a new player this week. They have signed an MOU with Farice, which operates subsea connectivity between Iceland, the Faroe Islands, the British Isles, and Denmark. The two will work on joint marketing and sales enabling direct connectivity between Iceland and Japan, leveraging FND’s planned cable between Japan and Ireland alongside Farice’s new Iris cable between Iceland and Ireland.
