STACK Infrastructure’s expansion plans have taken it to a new continent again. Yesterday the data center developer and operator announced a new partnership with the Australian real estate developer Hickory. The arrangement enables new plans for big infrastructure projects across Australia.
Initial plans are for a national data center platform spanning three markets, of which interestingly none are Sydney. STACK Australia is constructing a 72MW campus just west of Melbourne in Truganina, with two 36MW buildings due to be delivered in 2023. Meanwhile they are also working on a 28MW data center in Hume, Canberra and a 24MW data center in Wangara, Perth. They expect to break ground on both in Q3 of this year with delivery a year later.
STACK only just recently entered APAC with locations in Singapore and Japan, and has taken an inorganic path across the Atlantic into Europe. But by leveraging this new relationship with Hickory they are certainly hitting the ground running in Australia. Moving over from Hickory to STACK will be the former’s data center team led by Joel O’Halloran, Michael Gunton, and James Veness.
