Monday Roundup: Render, TPx, Ultatel, Fusion, Telxius

A few items of interest from late last week or this past weekend to catch up on while I get buried in ice and snow here in the Northeast:

Render Networks has a new partner in its efforts to further digitize the business of actually building network infrastructure. They have formed an alliance with software provider COS Systems, which offers packages for customer-centric data and service provisioning. By integrating those complementary capabilities, Render and COS each hope to address a wider range of opportunities. We had Render Networks’ Sam Pratt here recently for an Industry Spotlight.

TPx is taking its SD-WAN offerings to the next level. The managed services provider has upgraded its SD-WAN solutions in order to support traffic segmentation in support of teleworking, virtual managed service routers to power enterprise cloud deployments, MSR clustering for large enterprise network scaling, and of course better compiance with standards like PCI and HIPAA. While it’s hard to tell about a private company from the outside, TPx seems to have made one of the less turbulent transitions from regional CLEC to cloud and managed services provider.

Two providers tuned their technologies to work hand in hand with Microsoft Teams last week. ULTATEL has integrated its session border controller with Microsoft Teams, leveraging Direct Routing from its cloud, SIP trunking, and legacy solutions. And Fusion Connect is also leveraging Teams Direct Routing in its Calling Services solutions. Both moves seek to better serve remote workforces, something business service providers have had to pivot toward heavily for the past year.

And in the subsea world, Telxius is pairing its MAREA cable with the newly launched Dunant cable system to create something of a southern transatlantic loop. With MAREA landing in Spain and Dunante on the coast of France, and both leveraging the cable landing station in Virginia Beach, the combined system manages total diversity from both the everpresent hubs of New York City and London.
