Wednesday Roundup: Colt, Zayo, Orange, Megaport

Lots of interesting bits of news this week to keep an eye on:

Colt has added some more on-demand capabilities to its global backbone. The company’s IP Access business internet services are now available via the company’s SDN platform. The addition is available initiall in Europe with Asia and the US on the way for 2020. Of course it’s in Europe where the company has the largest enterprise and business footprint, with the bulk of its 27K on-net buildings there.

Zayo has picked up a customer in the research and education vertical on the east coast. Mid-Atlantic Crossroads is using both metro fiber and zColo’s Ashburn data center to power its regional cyber infrastructure platform. MAX is operated by the University of Maryland, and maintains nodes across the Washington DC and Baltimore metro areas.

Orange has teamed up with ThousandEyes to better monitor its infrastructure. They have deployed ThousandEyes’ platform for both the company’s Open Transit Internet and for Orange Business Services’ enterprise connectivty. The idea is to improve end-user experiences, speeding up troubleshooting and offering nmore visibility for both their own and their customers’ networks.

And Megaport has found some new territory to hook up back over on the other side of the Pacific. The NaaS provider has expanded into Japan and is now offering cloud connectivity services in Tokyo, Japan at Equinix’s TY2 and TY$ as well as AT TOKYO CC1. From there they expect to move into NTT DATA Otemachi, Colt Shiohama, NEC Kanagawa, MC-Digital Realty Mitaka, and TELEHOUSE TOKYO Otemachi, with a further expansion into Osaka next year on the menu as well.
