Three bits of data center and interconnection news, two from the US and one from south Asia:
Digital Realty Trust has acquired yet more land down in northern Virginia, which they just might be planning to put a data center on (you heard it here first!). They apparently paid $28M, or a staggering $2.14M per acre, for 21780 Filigree Court from Airbus. That’s right smack in the middle of the county’s data center alley of course.
Provdotnet announced yesterday two customer wins in the artificial intelligence space. They are hosting an AI cloud platform for Threat Warrior as well as providing data center services for Carbon Relay. Provdotnet operates three facilities in Providence RI, a data center market that tends not to get a lot of press, as well as one a bit further north in Boston.
And Mumbai IX has launched 100GE access across its footprint in the Indian metropolis, and CloudFlare is among the first to upgrade to the higher speed. DE-CIX’s first Indian exchange reached 129 customers at the end of last year, and expects to see 1Tbps of total connected capacity by the end of 2019. DE-CIX India is also expanding into Dehli, Kolkata, and Chennai.
