Friday Bytes: Anova, Telxius, WorldStream, iBasis

Three expansions and one contract win before the start of the weekend:

Anova Financial Networks says it has lowered the latency bar between Chicago and New Jersey. They are turning up service delivery of normalized market data between the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the BATS, NASDAQ, and NYSE exchanges in the NY/NJ metro area. Anova has also been busy recently with new markets in Asia, but of course the Chicago/NYNJ route is one of the core low latency markets.

Telxius is planning to deploy some gear to the southwestern US in the coming months. The international infrastructure arm of Telefonica will be adding a PoP at phoenixNAP in Phoenix, Arizona. From there they will be able to offer IP transit and other services, enabling customers there to leverage those new MAREA and BRUSA cables over in the Atlantic.

WorldStream is expanding its network deeper into southern Europe. The Dutch-based IaaS provider has added a PoP in Milan, Italy, moving into one of IRIDEOS’ facilities there. The expansion will lower latency for Worldstream, which was already peering at the Milan Internet Exchange, and help the company better neutralize large-scale DDoS attacks.

And iBasis has won an interesting deal in the IoT space. UK-based Eseye will be using the company’s network and regional gateways to connect business customers to device data. iBasis’ global ecosystem gives Eseye reach into 190 countries. Tofane Global completed its purchase of iBasis in February, and we are now seeing a bit of where they intend to take the company.
