Another player in DataGryd’s expansion at the iconic 60 Hudson Street carrier hotel in lower Manhattan was revealed yesterday. Hylan Datacom & Electrical has won the bidding and will be building out the power infrastructure underlying the project.
The new data center suite, which DataGryd is calling MegaSuite 6, will need 1MW of power as well as access to direct primary utility feeds of up to 5000KW. DataGryd’s other space in the building leverages power from the building rather than a direct utility feed. The Megasuite 6 project is DataGryd’s first expansion into space on the 6th floor of 60 Hudson, with plans for additional data halls also in the works. They are targeting customers seeking substantial high density colo space, whether wholesale or retail.
Hylan expanded its own reach dramatically in 2018 with multiple acquisitions taking it south to Washington DC as well as west to markets in Chicago, Texas, and California. But the NY/NJ metro area is their original home turf, and thus they were an obvious choice for DataGryd’s project at 60 Hudson. We had Hylan CEO Robert DiLeo on here for an Industry Spotlight last fall.
Hylan will be working alongside Clune Construction, which was announced last week to be the general contractor for the buildout. The project is expected to go live in Q3 of this year.
