Yesterday saw some interesting consolidation in a segment I don’t cover too much. Starhome Mach announced yesterday that its owners at Fortissimo Capital have agreed to sell the company to Vista Equity Partners. Vista intends to combine the company with Telarix, which it has owned since 2016.
The deal brings together two back office software players that specialize in the telecom industry. The combined company will offer both the interconnection and mobile roaming marketsOSS/BSS and B2B services via a unified portfolio of SaaS platforms. Of course to make that happen first the two companies will have to integrate their product sets, which I imagine will take some work.
The deal represents the recognition that the problems of backoffice management of mobile and wireline carriers are converging as their respective infrastructures become more tightly integrated. The worlds of voice, messaging, and data have been merging for some time now, obviously.
The combined company will be led by current Telarix CEO Marco Limena out of Vienna, Virginia. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but if all goes well closing should happen later this quarter.
