Tuesday Bytes: AT&T, Epsilon, France-IX, Consolidated

A few interesting product development and expansion items from the start of this week:

AT&T says it has made the first ‘standards-based mobile 5G millimeter wave connection’. They managed that task on the company’s network in Waco, Texas, one of the first markets they are deploying their nextgen technology in. The telecommunications giant plans to kick off mobile 5G in five additional cities this year, bringing their planned total to twelve, with seven more to start next year.

Epsilon is teaming up with Cato Networks to boost the company’s portfolio. Epsilon will be bundling their own DIA, Ethernet, and MPLS Access capabilities with Cato’s SD-WAN. Cato’s cloud-based offering integrates a network security component that eliminates the need for additional firewalls.

France-IX has added another strategic partner to its ecosystem. Acorus Networks has joined the France-IX Marketplace, bringing its security solutions to bear within the community. More specifically, they’ll be offering DDoS protection services and boosting their own peering port from 10G to 100G.

And Consolidated Communications is on the move up in northern New England. The company has expanded its On-site Secure offering to the region, further bolstering its business portfolio there. Consolidated entered northern New England via the Fairpoint acquisition not so long ago, and has been busy unifying all the technologies and offerings across the company’s footprint.
