More Int’l Bytes: Orange Business, Destiny, Grupo Gtd

With yet another nor-easter burying those of us in the northeastern US, most of the news is from elsewhere this week.  Here are a few other international items worth noting:

Orange Business has won a big contract renewal that will see it build out SD-WAN for international giant Siemens AG. The six year, €240M managed services contract covers 1,500 sites across 94 countries on 5 continents, bringing SDN to bear in a big way. Siemens will use the network to better leverage the cloud and new technologies like IoT.

There was a bit of cloud communications M&A over in Europe recently. The Belgian service provider Destiny has acquired the Dutch firm Motto Communications and its cloud distribution platform FLUX. The deal expands Destiny’s reach into the Dutch marketplace and boosts the company’s revenue to €42M. Destiny has an appetite for further expansion as well, looking to double those revenues and move into additional markets.  Q Advisors, who we recently spotlighted on this site in regards to Euro UCaaS consolidation, helped Motto with its side of the transaction.

And down in the South American country of Chile, Group Gtd has made another acquisition. This time they have acquired a 7,500 square meter data center from Falabella, a department store chain. After a series of fiber and colo moves over the last year or two, they now operate and connect up Tier III sites in Chile, Peru, and Colombia. Falabella will remain in the purchased facility under a 20 year contract.
