The interconnection and cloud connectivity markets have been evolving rapidly over the last few years. Yesterday two of the companies that have been shaking things up in their respective areas have announced a new partnership.
EdgeConneX, which is busy rolling out its 40th data center in four years out at the edge, is teaming up with PacketFabric, which only came out of stealth with its network-as-a-service solution this past January and is already in 145 locations across 17 US markets. The move will see PacketFabric’s SDN-powered platform deploy initially in EdgeConneX facilities in Portland, Phoenix, Minneapolis, and Santa Clara, with the rest to come over time.
The object will be to make available PacketFabric’s instant, highly scalable connectivity to, from, and between EdgeConneX’s nodes at the border between content and eyeballs. It’s a natural partnership that seems like it should already have been in place, but of course it’s still year 1 for PacketFabric.
