Colo Bytes: TierPoint, NJFX, QTS, Lincoln

Several data center operators have made moves already this holiday-shortened week:

TierPoint has some expansion plans in Oklahoma. They are partnering with Compass Datacenters to build a new facility in the Tulsa metro area. When complete, the new data center will span 60,000 square feet of total space. However, the first phase will be for half of that and wil cost some $20M. Tierpoint already has a 30K square foot facility in Tulsa and a 70K square foot facility a ways down the interstate in Oklahoma City.

NJFX has launched a virtual community portal, Market PoP, at its data center down on the Jersey shore. NJEdge has moved in, establishing a PoP at NJFX’s Wall facility and bringing its non-profit and education members access to a community of vetted service providers right alongside the key landing stations there and along the nearby shoreline.

QTS has added to its product portfolio this week. They have tapped PacketFabric’s SDN-powered network to complement their hybrid IT solutions. The deployment wil be initially available at QTS’s biggest data centers in Suwanee, Atlanta, Piscataway, Jersey City, Chicago, Richmond, and Miami. PacketFabric just launched back in January of course.

And Atlanta has a new data center option this week. Lincoln Rackhouse has purchased an 88,000 square foot facility from a corporate enterprise user that will be staying on via a partial leaseback. The facility is located in the Central Perimeter, near the intersection of I-285 and GA 400, and features 5MW of power and plenty of fiber. Lincoln Rackhouse will be offering the facility for lease immediately.
