BICS has thrown its hat into the global M&A ring this morning. The international arm of Belgacom has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire US-based TeleSign Corporation. The company sees the move as expanding its role in the industry from that of a global carrier to an international digital enabler.
TeleSign offers CPaaS, or Communications-Platform-as-a-Service and mobile identity and authentication solutions that enable customers to add real-time communications into their own applications and services without having to roll their own. Among its customers are Tinder and Salesforce, and TeleSign’s revenues are said to be around $100M annually.
BICS is hoping to marry those capabilities with its global network network and its interconnections with other networks worldwide, creating what it describes as “the world’s first end-to-end CPaaS provider”. BICS will be paying $230M for TeleSign, which will continue to operate independently as a subsidiary of the company.
