Metro Bytes: Lightower, DataSite, Consolidated

April 20th, 2017 by · Leave a Comment

Here’s a quick look at a few other news items from the metro this week:

Lightower announced the expansion of its presence in the Detroit metro area. Lightower’s Detroit footprint spans 1,200 route miles and over 100 on-net buildings, and derives mostly from Fibertech’s buildout in the city starting in 2014. Lightower has further expansion of that network in mind, and is opening a new office in nearby Troy at 755 West Big Beaver Road.

DataSite has a new network tenant in its Boise, Idaho facility. Syringa Networks has established a presence there. Syringa operates a regional network throughout the state of Idaho, which for most providers is far off the beaten path other than Boise itself. DataSite operates data centers in Atlanta and Orlando as well.

And Consolidated Communications has a new network connectivity option at its Houston facility at 811 Louisiana. Hurricane Electric has connected up to their Walker Meet Me Room there, bringing their IPv6-enabled backbone to another node of the internet. HE has been adding connections to its network worldwide at a prodigious rate. For its part, Consolidated is working on its acquisition of Fairpoint up in the northeast.
