CyrusOne’s invasion of Virginia seems to be going well. Today the Texas-based data center operator announced the acquisition of another shell building in Sterling, planning to built it out into their third location in the region.
The building is located at 511 Shaw Road, which is about 4 miles away from its two other facilities over on Ridgetop Circle. Upon its transformation into a data center will feature some 129,064 square feet of space. They expect to have a part of the building built out and commissioned by the end of this year.
It’s CyrusOne’s second significant move in northern Virginia this summer. In June, they purchased a 40 acre piece of land from the Kincora project a few miles away from both of these sites, although they haven’t detailed their plans yet for that property. They first entered Virginia back in 2014, and soon followed with a second, larger facility a stone’s throw away.
