TGIF, here’s a quick roundup of other news from this week that I didn’t get to:
CENX has landed a big customer for its Ethernet service orchestration software. They’ll be providing a real-time performance and fault monitoring for an unnamed tier 1 mobile service provider. Today’s backhaul networks are getting more complicated and difficult to manage. This follows a prior tier 1 service provider win to accelerate a 4G mobile backhaul network build-out.
Global Capacity says it finished 2013 with an impressive 17% rise in revenue over the prior year. They spent the year steadily expanding their One Marketplace platform, adding five new markets, interconnecting an additional 50 network providers, and partnering up with Equinix to tap that big ecosystem of theirs.
CyrusOne is planning to invade Northern Virginia at last. The Texas-based datacenter provider says it plans to build a 400,000 square foot facility with 250,000 square feet of raised floor space and up to 48MW of power, although phase 1 is about a quarter of that. They have bought the Loudoun Tech Center in Sterling, and will be using their modular approach with phase one to come online later this year.
In Texas, Alpheus is expanding its 6th Street data center in downtown Austin to meet demand. That’s the facility that has supported the SXSW event for the past two years, and they’ll be doubling the bandwidth to 2Gbps for it this year.
And out in Omaha, Unite Private Networks picked up an Ethernet contract with the law firm Gross and Welch. They’ll be providing Ethernet private line services for a direct and secure connection between the firm and its managed services provider.
