Both colo and metro fiber/conduit assets are changing hands out in Columbus, Ohio. Cologix today announced a transaction to acquire DataCenter.BZ, which operates a range of assets in central Ohio.
DataCenter.BZ’s main assets are the 32,000 square feet of carrier-neutral, raised floor space it operates across two facilities. It is a key interconnection point for the region with some 30 network choices. But DataCenter.BZ also operates a conduit and dark fiber footprint in the Columbus metro area. I used to have a metro fiber map link for them, but it appears to have disappeared.
As their eighth purchase, the assets will give Cologix a substantial presence in Columbus that already looks a lot like what it has assembled in its other six markets, although perhaps with a bit more at the fiber and real estate layers than usual. The deal brings more than $5M in annualized EBITDA along with it.
It’s Cologix’s second acquisition in six months after a period of relative quiet. In September they acquired Jacksonville’s JMMR. Might they still be on the M&A warpath?
