This week has seen a lot of international news items scroll past, here are some quick-takes on a few more:
CDNetworks has moved into Poland, building a new PoP for its global content delivery network in Warsaw. Part of the KDDI world, CDNetworks has specialized in content delivery in the harder to reach parts of the world. At the moment they’re looking at Eastern Europe, with additional expansions in the works.
iBasis and TI Sparkle are working together for LTE roaming and signaling. They’ve set up a peering agreement for such mobile data traffic, building upon the IPX arrangement they already had set up. iBasis is part of KPN of course, and KPN at least for now is still not under Carlos Slim’s full control yet.
Ciena has another announcement coming out of PTC this week. Tata Communications is putting their GeoMesh to work to bring 100G to both the TGN-Pacific and TGN-Intra-Asia cable systems. Tata had already rolled out a similar upgrade on the Atlantic of course.
And Pacnet followed up its own 100G rollout with an enhancement to its wavelength portfolio. They’ve introduced Wave Premium services, with better SLAs, restoration, and service availability. Pacnet has been fleshing out its revamped portfolio in recent quarters in preparation for the growing regional demand everyone keeps forecasting.
