A bit of fiber consolidation landed this morning in the deep south. The wireless backhaul specialist PEG Bandwidth has announced the closed the acquisition of Contact Network, Inc. d/b/a InLine.
InLine serves the SME, government, and carrier markets in Mississippi and Alabama with some 1,100 route miles and 140,000 fiber miles of network. It’s territory that overlaps partially with PEG’s footprint in Mississippi, and extends their range to the east.
PEG has been expanding rapidly on the organic front as wireless carriers look to bring modern data rates outside the main population centers. Buying InLine gives them additional infrastructure with which to expand the geography in which they can do more of it.
But they’re also adding more variety to their customer list, which may be ready to percolate into the rest of their turf.
