Poll: Why is AT&T Buying Leap?

July 16th, 2013 by · 1 Comment

AT&T’s planned purchase of Leap Wireless and its Cricket prepaid brand came as a bit of a surprise, if only because they could have done it long before this if the drivers were compelling enough to pay a 90% premium to the current stock price.  The 3G network is incompatible, the spectrum is valuable but not a perfect fit, and it’s not so big as to shift any major needles for AT&T.  So it’s time for a poll: why is AT&T doing this?
