Colo Bytes 10/24: Cologix, Telx, IO, ViaWest

The data center space continues to hop with activity, here is another set of quick takes from Cologix, IO, Telx, and ViaWest:

ContinuityX is expanding into Toronto and Dallas, adding nodes in Cologix’s facilities in both cities and becoming a significant platform customer of theirs.  ContinuityX offers cloud-based disaster recovery and business continuity, amongst other things, and operates out of multiple Telx facilities.  I guess they’ve decided to widen their infrastructure base, and Cologix operates a similar type of business with a different footprint.

Speaking of Telx, they also won a contract this week with a cloud services company, this time in the financial sector.  Sky Road is expanding its offerings in Downtown Chicago via Telx’s 350 East Cermak facility.  Telx’s connectivity will let them offer their customers secure access to their cloud-based swap trader program.

Out in Phoenix, IO announced a Data Center as a Service contract with the marketing services firm Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, or BSSP.  BSSP will leverage IO for its disaster recovery needs, thus avoiding the hassle of rolling its own.

And also out west, regional cloud and colo operator ViaWest is expanding its cloud portfolio with another hosted service aimed at the enterprise market.  They’ve added KINECTed VDI  to their portfolio, powered by Dizzion.  The new offering enables their enterprise customers to outsource the delivery of virtual desktops to wherever their employees happen to be at the time.
