Here’s a quick look at some of the news this week on the international front:
NTT America says that Evernote has selected their IP backbone services to power their exponential growth. The cloud-based note keeping service has trippled its size year over year, and its second largest market has turned out to be Japan. Hence, NTT’s network with its powerful transpacific component and deep Asia-Pacific coverage overall was a natural fit.
Over in Europe, Colt has launched a new voice service for business customers, called Colt Voice Freedom, with a modular flat fee pricing structure for fixed line costs across Europe. It’s an interesting move, as voice revenue declines have been the bane of Colt’s last few years – albeit more of the wholesale variety – while pushing data and IP growth. No other carrier has the asset density Colt has to address the enterprise space in a truly pan-European way, and that market is just starting to really get interesting.
And with the Olympics about to kick off in London, Teliasonera International Carrier says it has been selected to provide support for not one, not two, but eleven major global broadcasters: Broadcasters Deutsche Welle, Korea Broadcast Services, Tokyo Broadcast Systems, Bandsports, EBU, YLE, NRK, Aldea, KEF and Televisa. Each will be using the carrier’s Media Connect Occasional Use service in order to keep up with the events – both in real time and later catch-up.
