Colo Catchup: Cologix, Interoute, QTS, C7, Digital Realty

Another acquisition by Cologix, a new product for Interoute, and then a contract each for QTS, C7, and Digital Realty:

Cologix (news) continued its inorganic expansion with yet another purchase. The colocation and interconnection specialist said yesterday that it is buying Carrier Connex, which operates a data center at 151 Front Street. Cologix is of course already the largest operator at 151 Front Street with several expansion projects already in the works. The addition of Carrier Connex’s footprint and customer list increases that scale further.

In Europe, Interoute (news) continued to fill out its IaaS portfolio with another product launch.  They now offer a self-service disaster recovery and backup option as part of their virtual data center offerings.  Taking advantage of the fact that they own the network, data transit between the company’s data center zones is included.

Web.com is moving into QTS’s facility down in the Atlanta Metro area. The online services provider is consolidating eight facilities across the country that support the company’s various web properties into QTS Atlanta, where it inherited a presence from its purchase of Network Solutions.

Out in Utah, C7 Data Centers continued its recent surge of activity with a win in the education sector. They’re providing datacenter outsourcing services to Stevens-Henager College Group, including space, power, cooling, and blended bandwidth. Stevens-Henager will use the infrastructure to deliver education content across its institutions across the western half of the US.

And finally, Digital Realty Trust (NYSE:DLR, news, filings) said this morning that it has signed a new lease with DataBank Holdings. DataBank will be leasing a standalone facility in North Dallas, within Digital Realty’s Datacenter Park Dallas campus. The facility will come online in the fourth quarter of this year, and will leverage Digital Realty’s Powered Base Building solution.
