There was some interesting consolidation news from somewhere other than the metro fiber and cloud/managed-services spaces. This time it was in the enterprise and wholesale VoIP sector, where two of the more dynamic private companies are becoming one. Bandwidth.com is acquiring dash Carrier Services in a deal that broadens its portfolio and will apparently take its revenue above the $100M mark annually.
Bandwidth.com sells voice and connectivity to the enterprise, both directly and through channels. Now carrying several billion minutes of VoIP traffic annually, they recently attained enough industry muscle to win a key interconnection deal with Verizon last month. On the other hand, dash focuses on the wholesale market with add-on services like E911, CNAM, and 411 as well as origination and termination. The combined entity will be able to offer integrated packages with a larger addressable market.
No financial details of the purchase itself were disclosed, other than that it was ann all-cash deal. As they are both privately held, I’ve never known much about the size of either company. But with that run rate of $100M+ combined annual revenue and profitability, I wonder if they will go public at some point.

$100M run rate? Seems way to too small to be public given the associated overhead.
“several billion minutes of VoIP traffic monthly” according to what source?
Oops, that should have said annually, I misquoted the PR. Sorry about that, I have corrected the article.
