Three interesting projects from three different corners of the infrastructure sector to catch up with:
NTT DATA has picked up a major digital transformation customer. They have announced a 10 year strategic collaboration with UPS to modernize the package delivery company’s IT infrastructure. As part of the deal, NTT DATA will buy and operates one of UPS’s data centers as well as provide AI and cloud services going forward.
Kentucky has a new CLEC. Quad State Internet has been granted the designation from the Kentucky PSC, enabling it to expand services across the state. QSI operates the Paduca Internet Exchange, and is looking to build a dedicated voice backbone alongside that infrastructure to deliver advanced VoIP capabilities. The ‘quad’ states refers to the regional intersection of the states of KY, MO, TN, and AR.
And there was a bit of data center consolidation over in the UK this week. The edge infrastructure provider Pulsant has announced plans to acquire two 25,000-square-foot data centers from SCC, carving out facilities in Birmingham and Fareham. The Birmingham facility is in Cole Valley with 2MW of capacity, while the Fareham location outside of Portsmouth has 3MW. The deal is expected to close sometime later this month.
