Five bits of FTTx news, one in the Midwest, one in the Midatlantic, and three in the UK from this week’s news:

DigitalC has been busy hooking up the last mile in Cleveland. The nonprofit internet provider says it has connected 4,000 households to its Canopy network. They are using next-gen fixed wireless to reach the 31% of Cleveland households with no broadband access, offering symmetric 100/100Mbps service for $18/month.

Antietam Broadband says it will be expanding its footprint in Maryland’s Washington County.   The region is part of the Maryland panhandle surrounding the city of Hagerstown.

CityFibre has completed the primary buildout of its network in the Scottish city of Dundee on the north shore of the Firth of Tay. The new infrastructure reaches 58,000 homes and cost some £40m over the last four years. They will continue to expand the 488km of fiber to reach additional homes and businesses.

Wildanet has tapped Xantaro to help with its buildout of last mile fiber in the county of Cornwall at the far southwest of England. Wildanet has a £77M in funding from the UK’s Project Gigabit with which they are expanding broadband to 35K premises in underserved areas in the region. Xantaro will help accelerate the buildout by deploying street cabinets and exchange solutions with technology from Nokia, VIAVI, and others.

And Elevate will be building out fiber in St. Helens, a city of 120K people between the UK cities of Liverpool and Manchester where they have also been building out fiber. They have won a contract with the St Helens Borough Council to roll out last mile infrastructure as part of a regeneration effort in the town centre. Elevate has also recently won a deal to expand its footprint in the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
