Two regional fiber items and three international upgrades:
Vero Fiber is gearing up for more FTTH development. They have expanded their existing credit facility to $240M plus an accordion that could expand it up to $310M. Vero footprint now reaches 246 markets in 20 states, including dozens of communities in Colorado with ongoing projects in Texas, California, Iowa, and Ohio among others.
Brightspeed has expanded its XGS-PON fiber network reach in eastern North Carolina. They now have 40% of their planned buildout on the Outer Banks and can now reach consumers in Nags Head, Colington Island, and Kitty Hawk. The expansion now reaches 6,300 locations, with 15,400 planned.
Orange Jordan has tapped Nokia to help upgrade its broadband network gateway in the country. They have deployed Nokia’s 7750SR platform and related technology across 76 sites in northern, central, and southern Jordan. The upgrade will enable Orange Jordan to ‘elevate broadband services and user experience’.
MXT Holdings has tapped Ciena for a network upgrade. The Mexican telecommunications infrastructure provider has a network of some 3,500km of longhaul and metro fiber in the country’s central and southeastern regions. They will be deploying Ciena’s coherent routing technology in response to traffic demands from the usual suspects of 5G and cloud.
And Motorola Solutions has won some government dollars down in Australia. The Victorian Government’s Department of Justice and Community Safety has signed a 10-year, AUD$500M deal to maintain and enhance the state’s Metropolitan Mobile Radio network. That’s the network used by police, ambulance services, fire rescue, and other first responders, with Marine Search & Rescue joining in 2025.
