One equipment trial and three data center development project items to catch up with:

Arelion and Cisco have been busy testing the latter’s 400G ULH pluggables. The two have completed a live network trial between Chicago and Denver in which they demonstrated a successful IP transmission at 112.5Ghz over 2,253km. The technology offers the ability to consolidate excessive hardware and improve efficiency.

Powerhouse Data Centers and Harrison Street have announced the sale of ABX-1. Located in Ashburn, the 256,580 square foot facility was fully leased to CyrusOne prior to its completion in the fall of 2023. The two still have three other development projects in northern Virginia as well as two others in Reno NV and Irving TX.

Applied Digital has revealed progress on its HPC development project up in Ellendale, North Dakota. The on-site main substation transformer is now energized, bringing the campus another step closer to reality. Construction on the 100MW project began in 2023.

And Verne Global will be building a 5th Nordic data center. They have acquired a site in Mäntsälä, Finland, which is about 40 minutes north of Helsinki. Their plan is to build a 10-hectare, 100%-renewable-energy campus with an initial capacity of 70MW. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2025.
