A set of interesting infrastructure items from around the world:
A new subsea cable is on the menu for the Caribbean. Telxius, Orange, and SETAR have formed the CELIA consortium, which will build a 3700km system between the region and North America. CELIA will connect Boca Raton with Aruba, Martinique, Antigua, and Puerto Rico with at least 8 fiber pairs and an initial potential capacity of 170Tbps.
BDx Indonesia has launched a new project in Indonesia. The JV between BDx, IOH, and Lintasarta is building an AI data center park to be called CGK4. Phase 1 of the new campus will be equipped with NVIDIA’s AI and accelerated computing platform.
EdgeConneX also has some big plans for Indonesia. They have acquired more land in Jakarta adjacent to their existing campus. The additional 45,000sqm will give them the room to triple their existint capacity to more than 200MW. They haven’t kicked off such a project just yet, but are preparing to meet demand from cloud and AI sources across the region.
And Hotwire Communications has been trialing Nokia’s next generation Lightspan MF platform. They have been testing 25G and 50G PON connectivity over a live fiber network. Hotwire operates last mile networks in the southeast, southwest, California, and Pennsylvania.
