Four items of regional interest to catch up with on the eve of Christmas.

Gateway Fiber is making progress on its buildout into western Massachusetts. They have announced the connection of their first residential customers in Northampton this week, bringing up to 2Gbps connectivity to areas that previously topped out at 300Mbps. Massachusetts is Gateway’s third region, as they already have FTTx depth in Missouri and Minnesota.

Great Plains Communications has tapped the credit markets to prepare for its next phase of expansion out in the Midwest. They closed on $500M in financing with the help of Fifth Third Bank, which acted as Lead Arranger and Administrative Agent. The funds will go toward refinancing existing debt and to future capital expenditures. GPC targets the full range of residential, business, and wholesale customers throughout Nebraska and reaching into neighboring states.

Tonaquint Data Centers has added some interconnection depth to its ecosystem. They have forged a strategic partnership with the global NaaS provider Megaport. Megaport has deployed a 100G presence within Tonaquint’s St. George data center, bringing a range of cloud connectivity options to customers in Utah. Tonaquint is backed by CVC and also operates data center infrastructure in Idaho and Oklahoma.

And Duos Technologies is moving deeper into the data center world in the Texas panhandle. They have partnered with the Pampa Energy Center via their Duos Edge AI and Duos Energy subsidiaries to develop high density data center parks in Pampa TX, which sits northeast of Amarillo. The 500+ acre campus will have 500MW of natural gas self generation capability backed by 200MW of wind turbine generation. The first 50MW high density facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
