Alianza has made an inorganic move to expand its range of communications software capabilities. The cloud communications platform company has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Metaswitch from Microsoft.
Microsoft bought Metaswitch in July 2020, but the latter has been around since the 80s. Its modern form took shape in 2000 with the development of VoIP and softswitches. Today’s Metaswitch has been working toward integrating AI capabilities into its technology alongside the rest of the Microsoft empire. That is something Alianza will surely be looking to take advantage of.
Alianza will be integrating the two technology platforms, creating a next-generation, cloud-native platform that can leverage AI for future innovations. The combined company’s customer base will touch 19 of the top 20 global communications service providers and more than 1,000 total. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal is expected to close in Q1 of 2025.

It sounds like Metawitchh is still ruined, just in a different form.
