CommScope’s gear will be getting a workout in Cleveland this year. The vendor has announced a partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which means that CommScope’s ERA DAS system will be deployed at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. That infrastructure will support 5G mobile connectivity for NBA fans as well as for the teams and facility operations.
CityFibre has sold off the consumer part of its Lit Fibre acquisition, kind of. Two of the company’s co-founders, Tom Williams and Ben Bresler, have acquired the division’s existing customers across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Hertfordshire, Worcestershire, Essex and Suffolk. CityFibre bought Lit Fibre and has been busy integrating its 10Gbps XGS-=PON infrastructure. CityFibre itself will thus be able to remain wholesale-focused.
And Nokia has picked up two customer expansion deals in the Far East. In Vietnam, they are rolling out optical gear with Viettel in support of both 5G and DCI demand. The deployment follows a successful trial of 1.2Tbps per wavelength earlier this year. And yesterday, Nokia signed a 1-year 5G deal extension with Taiwan Mobile, whom they have been working with for a couple decades. They will be helping the carrier boost its 5G performance and upgrade its 4G network as well. Taiwan Mobile and Taiwan Star merged last year.
