Multiple interesting developments from international sources this week to catch up on:

DE-CIX is building its sixth Internet Exchange in the US, taking aim at Houston. The new IX will start out at four Databank facilities — three at the Westway Park campus (HOU1-3) plus the Galleria (HOU5). The new market will complement nearby DE-CIX Dallas as well as DE-CIX Mexico once the connectivity is set up.

EXA is making a move on the financial vertical with a new dedicated network rollout. They have launched the EXA Financial Network connecting 25 exchanges in North America and Europe. Among other assets, EXA operates the lowest latency transatlantic connection between New York and London, built originally by Hibernia.

Colt is also building out more capabilities for the financial vertical. They have expanded their data solutions into the NYSE and NASDAQ as well as OPRA. The move gives them greater coverage in US markets of course, complementing their relationship with the exchanges of the CME Group.

GTT has virtualized its Managed DIA capabilities. The new GTT Envision platform will complement the company’s existing managed SD-WAN, Firewall, and other capabilities delivered via devices at the customer premises. GTT is looking to enable the enterprise markeplace with ‘cloud-like flexibility’.

And SoftBank is assembling new AI infrastructure and alliances over in Japan. This week they announced a series of partnerships aimed at accelerating AI in the region, partnering with NVIDIA for a range of hardware as they look to leverage AI in the telecommunications space. They are also partnering with Fujitsu on research targeting AI-RAN.
