Infrastructure news from around the world at midweek:

Meta has tapped Lumen for a long term network capacity deal. Meta will be using Lumen’s Private Connectivity Fabric to expand its dedicated interconnection capabilities. That will go toward Meta’s vision in AI, helping them interface with their customers as they consume more AI services in the years ahead.

ODATA has tapped Casa dos Ventos to boost its renewable energy resources. They will be participating in the Babilônia Sul wind complex in Várzea Nova, Bahia. Bahia is Brazil’s fourth largest state by population and sits between Rio de Janeiro and Fortaleza, but which we don’t hear from too much. The energy project will include 80 wind turbines for some 360MW of capacity when complete.

GlobalNet has officially launched a new DWDM route between Berlin and Stockholm. The new route passes beneath the Baltic Sea, connecting Equinix SK1 to Speedbone DC with just 12ms in latency. GlobalNet has been building out rings across Europe over the last few years, and plans to turn its attention to the east in 2025 with a new route from Bratislava to Sofia, passing through Budapest and Belgrade.

In Indiana, Accord Telecommunications Collaborative and OCM Engineering are teaming up to build out more infrastructure in the Midwest. OCM will be spearheading fiber plant and interconnection for Accord’s members, which consist of 26 electric cooperatives and local telecommunications companies. Combined the group has some 50,000 miles of middle fiber, which Accord is looking to expand further.

And Windstream is expanding its SMB portfolio. They have added new bundled offerings to their Kinetic Business lineup, combining internet and cloud voice services to target small businesses as well as schools, libraries, and other institutions. Windstream is of course still in the process of its combination with Uniti Group.
