A few interesting items to catch up on:
Lightpath continued its expansion down in the Miami metro area. They have hooked up or are in the process of hooking up another 8 data centers, added 15 route miles of new fiber, and introduced a dark fiber service to hook up additional locations. The company will have a total of a dozen data centers on-net by the end of the year. The additional fiber extends their footprint toward north Miami Beach and to Miami Gardens.
CHR Solutions says it has lined up a new regional partner down in Texas. Horizons Communcations will be leveraging CHR Solutions’ technology to implement a holistic cybersecurity strategy. The new setup replaces a more expensive, multi-vendor, fragemented approach. Horizons Communications is based in Lubbock and its footprint spans 2,200 square miles of the South Plains of Texas.
iBasis has added another international customer for its A2P messaging monetization solution. Claro Perú will be using iBasis’s infrastructure as its exclusive gateway for terminating A2P SMS traffic on the Peruvian mobile operator’s network. The move will enable Claro Perú to better control and monetize messaging traffic and give them a path forward to RCS and other technologies down the road.
And Colt Technology Services is looking upward for some next generation connectivity. They have partnered with Rivada Space Networks, which has in mind 600 LEO satellites. Their first launch will be next year, with services started in 2026. Colt hopes to complement its terrestrial and subsea infrastructure with Rivada’s “Outernet”, although exactly what form that will take in their product portfolio will be something to watch over the next few years.
