Tuesday Roundup: Gateway, Tarana, maincubes, Macquarie

Some FTTx, some fixed wireless, some data center development, and some funding:

Gateway Fiber is expanding its foothold in western Massachussets. They have announced an FTTx buildout in the city of Pittsfield. The company entered the region with new construction in Northampton this fall and plans to begin construction in Gardner later this quarter. At the state’s western border, Pittsfield is the largest metro area they have taken on yet in the region, though more are probably coming.

Some 45 apartment buildings in Cleveland OH now have a broadband option they had been lacking. The nonprofit DigitalC has teamed up with Tarana and InCoax to connect 502 apartments over the span of 45 days. The solution leverages Tarana’s G1 fixed wireless solution and InCoax’s in-building MoCA Access technology. The apartments are near the area known as the Flats near the mouth of the Cuyahoga River.

maincubes has some significant development plans for eastern Germany. They have acquired 14 hectares of land in Nauen, on the outskirts of Berlin. They are looking to take advantage of AI and cloud investment in the region with a new campus, with a grid supply connection of 200MW already lined up and multiple renewable options planned. Construction is expected to start next summer.

And down under, Macquarie Technology Group has tapped the credit markets as it looks to fund further expansion. They have secured an A$450M loan facility, an expansion of the A$260M they had in place previously. The additional funding will help with the completion of their IC3 Super West Phase 1 buildout.
